Specialist Intake Programs
The two Intake programs provide are a short-term intervention for primary-age students who are exhibiting significant social and emotional difficulties in their main schools. The Joey classroom is the Junior Program and caters for students in Years 1 & 2 and the Burra classroom is Senior Program and caters for students in Years 3 & 4.
The prime focus for students enrolled for short periods of time is firstly engagement into educational activities and secondly assisting in the development of socially appropriate behaviours. Referrals to these programs are made directly by contacting Yarra Me School.
Students eligible to participate in the Intake programs with Yarra Me School are outlined in our School Specific Enrolment policy.
Information about the other Government school's zones is available on findmyschool.vic.gov.au which hosts the most up-to-date information about Victorian school zones.
Students residing in a school's zone are guaranteed a place at that school, which is determined on the basis of your permanent residential address. The Department provides guidance through the Enrollment: Placement Policy to ensure that students have access to their designated neighborhood school and the freedom to choose other schools, subject to facility limitations.

Education at the Hurstbridge Farm is provided within the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing setting. The prime concern is a safe and secure residential environment with education provided as important but secondary to the immediate needs of young people. Referrals to this program are only made by Child Protection, Department of Families, Fairness and Housing.
Every program offers innovative and personalised learning, with a strong focus on social and emotional skill development.
