Our School Council
Welcome Message from the Yarra Me School Council President
School Councils are important partners in shaping future directions, improving student achievement, developing policy, building partnerships, enhancing communication and promoting safe and healthy school cultures.
Thank-you to our school councillors who have volunteered their valuable time and expertise to fulfil the important role as a member of our Yarra Me School community.
As in previous years, Yarra Me School is pleased to issue the School Council Welcome Package, full of valuable resources, tips, and ideas for a successful school year. The contents of the package and other materials are available on our website (www.yarrame.vic.edu.au) for access by all school members and parents/guardians.
This package of information will guide you to the valuable resources from the Department of Education and Training (DET).
DET has detailed information about school councils online providing advice for schools and school councils that are a guide to ensure strong effective partnerships. A training package for school councils, Improving School Governance, has been developed to improve the knowledge, understanding and skills of school council members, school council presidents and school principals. The package consists of four modules: Induction, Strategic Planning, Finance, and Policy Development and Review. The modules can also be accessed online. Participants can complete the modules at their own pace, in any order and are able to return to each module as many times as necessary. To access the online training, see https://www.schoolgovernance.vic.edu.au
On behalf of the Yarra Me School Council and Yarra Me staff, I wish to thank our school councillors for providing their time as valued members of our school council for the 2020 school year.
Best wishes for an excellent year.
