To develop school capacity and understanding in supporting disengaged learners. The Consultant is a Special Education Teacher with experience in Autism and ADHD who can provide:

Delivery of Service
This service is currently limited to state primary schools located in the North East Melbourne areas of the North Western Victoria Region. Schools within the Greater Bendigo areas can be serviced through a virtual consultation with the Special Education Consultant.
There are two forms of service a school can request:

To develop school capacity and understanding in supporting disengaged learners. The Consultant is a Special Education Teacher with experience in Autism and ADHD who can provide:
- In-depth analysis and explanation of the learner's formal assesments
- Discussion to better understand the learner's behaviour of concern, learning and social needs
- Classroom and/or playground observation
- Accommodations to support the learners' behaviour, social-emotional and learning needs
- Ideas on differentiation in classroom curriculum
- Information regarding pathways for school and family to support the learner
An effective consultation is possible when:
- The student being referred has had either a cognitive assessment or a speech assessment or both. At the time of the Consultation, one or both assessments will need to be available. The information in these assessments will help develop the learner profile and inform the recommendations and strategies.
- The school provides release time for the classroom teacher to attend the feedback meeting with the Special Education Consultant.
Delivery of Service
This service is currently limited to state primary schools located in the North East Melbourne areas of the North Western Victoria Region. Schools within the Greater Bendigo areas can be serviced through a virtual consultation with the Special Education Consultant.
There are two forms of service a school can request:
- Standard Consultation will be delivered over a 3-hour visit within a day with no cost to the school. If the school requests a written report, a non-refundable service provision fee of $300 (plus GST) will be charged to the school.
- Extended Consultation is available upon request and is delivered over 4 x 3-hour visits within a term. A non-refundable service provision fee of $400 (plus GST) is charged to the school. A Framework of Implementation will be sent to the school prior to the consultation and an Action Plan is generated during the consultation with the key staff supporting the student.
Yarra Me does not charge parents or carers a service fee.
