Welcome to Yarra Me School. We’re delighted to have you visit our website. This page gives you a quick overview of who we are and what we do. You can explore further by using the menu at the top of the site.
Scope Yarra Me only accepts referrals from Victorian state primary schools in the North-Western metropolitan region of Melbourne. The Hurstbridge Farm program accepts referrals exclusively from the Victorian Department of Families, Fairness and Housing.
Our Purpose At Yarra Me, we work closely with each child, their parents and carers, and their mainstream school. Our purpose is clear: to help every child reconnect with learning and participate successfully at school. We aim for children to be set up for success when they return to, or continue in, their home school.
What We Believe - Every child wants to belong at school - Every child wants to succeed socially and academically - Every child can grow their understanding of the world and respond to challenges in positive ways - With the right support, challenges become opportunities for growth - Individualised support that both builds on strengths and addresses challenges helps every child thrive
How We Do It We support children through programs that are: - Time-limited - Goal-focused - Centred on the individual needs of each learner - Using a 'Team Around the Learner' approach, where families, referring schools, allied health professionals and Yarra Me staff work together to wrap support around each child. -Our specialist team is committed to trauma-informed and relational practice, recognising that behaviour is a form of communication. We seek to understand the reasons behind behaviour, meet the underlying needs, and support the child’s growth with confidence.
Our programs include: - The Preston Program (classroom-based) - Positive Partnerships Service(outreach-based) - Hurstbridge Farm(in partnership with DFFH) - A range of Professional Development opportunities for Victorian state Primary Schools
