Who We Are?

Students @ YarraMe 
 
The students referred to YarraMe exhibit a combination of educational, complex behaviour and difficulties with emotion regulation. Students are referred from state primary schools within the North West Region for services within the Intake Program, Outreach/SEL Service or Secondary Consult. 
YarraMe  staff work with students who come from a range of backgrounds which include:
  • Trauma
  • Attachment Disorder
  • Autism
  • ADHD
  • Anxiety
  • ODD
The students receiving services and support from YarraMe often present with associated behaviours such as verbal and physical aggression, defiance, withdrawal, self-injury and difficulties forming and maintaining relationships. 


Staff @ YarraMe 

The staff at YarraMe work in partnership with referring schools, families and caregivers to develop a strengths-based model to improve learning and social engagement. To do this, it will require a multi-disciplinary team of skill sets which includes special education teachers and allied health specialists. The staff at YarraMe includes:
  • School Principal (currently acting Co-principals)
  • Special Education teachers who are the Key teachers for the Intake program
  • Special Education teachers who support schools within the Outreach/SEL Service and Secondary Consult
  • Education Support Officers
  • Professional Learning Team (OLT, short courses ....)
  • Learning Tutor
  • Physical Education Teacher
  • Clinical Psychologist
  • Speech Pathologist
  • Occupational Therapist (vacant position)
  • Business Manager and Administration staff

Our dedicated team provides expert support in the transition back to school programs with the referring schools, and who continue to work closely with the school to monitor student engagement.

School Council @ YarraMe
 
The school council operates within the guidelines the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic), the Education and Training Reform Regulations 2017 (Vic) and a constituting Order. The school council helps strengthen community confidence by involving representation within and beyond the school community of YarraMe. There are four categories of membership on the YarraMe School Council these are:
  • Ex-officio (School Principal)
  • DET staff 
  • Nominee positions - (community, DHHS)
  • Parent representative(s)
Sub-committees - Finance
School Council meetings are held on the +++ Monday of each month commencing at 5pm.

The School Council supports the Principal to provide the best outcomes for the students and schools receiving services through the YarraMe program.
