Understanding ASD Through the Lens of Executive Function

Webinar Sessions

We often find that students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) behave in ways that interfere with their learning. The autistic mind is a chaotic space (Moraine, 2016) and daily tasks at school and home, social interactions, and planning can become challenging for students with ASD. One explanation for these behaviours is their weak executive functioning.

Our executive function (or executive skills) are the mental processes that enable us to manage day-to-day tasks and organise our lives. Presented by Dr Anna Bortoli (special education and ASD consultant), this webinar shows us the importance of understanding the implications of weak executive skills for students with ASD.

Participants will learn about its effects on social interaction, decision making, setting personal goals and performing tasks at school and home. And, you will find out about practical, evidence-based strategies that help students with ASD with learning and participation.
